"My Andes" Photography Contest
January 2024 - May 3, 2025
Public Exhibition: March 29 - May 3, 2025
Centro Fundación Andes Art, Poconche, Atacama, Chile
In December 2023, we launched a fascinating artistic project: a photography contest that invites participants to capture the essence of the Atacama Desert through the lenses of our participants. A total of 47 35mm disposable cameras were distributed among the contestants, who had the opportunity to explore and reflect on the beauty and uniqueness of our region from their personal perspectives.
The public exhibition, which will take place from March 29 to May 3, 2025, at the Andes Art Foundation Center in the heart of Poconche, San Pedro de Atacama, will be the culmination of this competition. During the exhibition opening, a selection of the best photographs will be made for the creation of an exclusive calendar reflecting the majesty of the Atacama. This collection will be a unique showcase of images that capture the spirit of this desert region.
For more than a month, the public will be able to enjoy a series of stunning works that not only highlight the majesty of the desert, but also the stories and emotions intertwined with its arid, ancient landscape.
This contest not only seeks to showcase photographic beauty, but also to connect participants with the magic and mystery surrounding the Atacama Desert. Through this project, we seek to promote local art and culture and offer a space for everyone to share their unique vision of this desert landscape.
We invite you to be part of this visual experience and discover the grandeur of Atacama through the eyes of our contestants!
Over five evenings, children between the ages of 7 and 15 will participate in creative workshops where they will learn about sustainability and environmental regeneration through activities such as recycling, working with plastics, clay, local deadwood, sand, rocks, leaves, and colored earth. They will create containers, dishes, and ornaments, and explore building mobile sculptures powered by solar, wind, or water. Each activity will be an opportunity for children to connect with their surroundings, discover their creativity, and have fun while learning.
In addition to the workshops, the camp will include excursions through the natural environment, giving children the opportunity to observe local flora and fauna while developing a greater ecological awareness.
Our goal is to engage children in experiences that strengthen their character, foster friendships, and give them the opportunity to form lifelong relationships. This camp will be a meeting place for young people from different regions of Chile, Bolivia, Argentina, and Peru, creating a space to share, learn, and grow together.
This project is designed to be a transformative experience, with a special focus on sustainability and connection with nature. Over time, we hope to expand this camp and continue offering learning opportunities to more children, engaging them in environmental stewardship and fostering their creativity.

Toconao - EcoArte
April 9, 2025
Seminario/Workshop
Centro Fundación Andes Art, Poconche, Atacama, Chile
The Eco Art Workshop in Toconau had a group of seven participants and is a project in progress.
The group met and expressed their local problems: trash and people driving too fast through the village. We discussed possible solutions and ideas. I proposed a sculpture tour of the village, with objects made from trash, displayed in special locations. These special locations will be chosen by each participant so they have a close connection to the space and can create intimate works that reflect their connection to it. I have images of the participants from the second meeting and images of the dumps from our third meeting.
Dagoberto Peña Memorial Camp
With great enthusiasm, we are organizing a camp in memory of Mr. Dagoberto Peña, a leader and visionary whose passion for the environment and art inspires us. This camp, which will take place on his homeland, Chokor, in May 2026, will provide two groups of children—one from Laguna Verde and the other from San Pedro de Atacama—the opportunity to explore nature, create art, and enjoy a unique experience in the heart of the Atacama Desert.

Atacameño Communities, Chile
Started in January 2024 - In progress
The project People's Posters invites Atacama communities to actively participate in the design, planning, and construction of signs representing their city's name. This initiative seeks to create unique and lasting pieces that not only reflect each community's identity but also generate a strong sense of local pride.
Under the direction of local artists and supported by expert engineers, the project utilizes regional talent and labor, offering participants a valuable opportunity for professional and personal development. Through training provided by local and national artisans, community members will acquire practical skills that will enhance their future prospects, while fostering teamwork and cooperation.
