Project Two

We are inviting communities to design, plan, and work together towards the installation of their place/town name, creating individually identifiable creations which will last for generations to come. These signs will become a part of a community's identity and install a powerful sense of pride within the community. This project will be artist led in conjunction with expert engineers throughout the process using local labour and skill. It will provide a practical skill learning experience for all participants. The introduction and training provided by local and national artisans will be designed to enhance the prospects of all those involved in the project. The selection of the site, choice of design, the materials used, the construction techniques utilised will each provide learning opportunities whether they be practical or cerebral, learning to work together to create a unifying experience. The works later show an established town or community sign with a lot of sculptural and architectural relationships within the given situations. They will work as landmarks highly loaded with local identity. The interpretation of this identity can be a matter of a workshop that will be held on site with the residents and which will be published in a book
